BC Government takes first steps in Community Engagement process

The B.C. government has begun the process of public engagement on coastal ferry services by issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP).

This RFP is the first step in the provincial government’s commitment to seek public input on strategies to support its long-term vision of connecting coastal communities in an affordable, efficient and sustainable manner. The consultant will also work with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) on a community engagement process to discuss service adjustments with coastal communities.

MOTI expects to confirm the consultant’s appointment by the end of July, after which the process for public consultation will be shaped. It is expected that this will include both an on-line consultation and a series of public and stakeholder meetings.  The RFP indicates that the consultant will liaise with  Ferry Advisory Committees as part of the engagement program.
