Continuing high diesel fuel prices mean that BC Ferries will be adding a 3.5% fuel surcharge to all fares from January 17.
Announcing the surcharge today, BC Ferries says diesel fuel prices have increased by 14 cents per litre since fare levels were set by the Ferry Commissioner. At the time, diesel fuel was priced at $0.95 per litre. By November 2013 diesel prices had reached $1.09 per litre.
The fuel surcharge will add 35 cents to a passenger fare between Nanaimo and Gabriola, and 85 cents to the vehicle fare. Full details of today’s announcement can be found here
